The Science Olympiad Team is a hand picked group of predominantly 8th graders with high science and math grades who are creative problem solvers, work well under pressure and show engineering potential. The 15 – 20 children on the team build towers, bridges, catapults, airplanes and also devise a method of safely encasing a raw egg so that it will safely land when dropped from a certain height. The team is exposed to different disciplines of science, including biology, earth science, chemistry, physics and technology to prepare for the competition. These committed students meet after school twice a week from September through March to prepare for a city-wide competition held in March.
