The Ryan Physical Education Department provides a comprehensive Curriculum mandated by the New York City Department of Education to meet the needs and behaviors of our children as they mature.Lesson plans are based on developmental, structured and cooperative learning strategies. The units that are covered throughout the year include:

  • Physical Fitness (Fitnessgram testing)
  • Soccer
  • Basketball
  • Volleyball
  • Wiffleball/Kickball
  • Badminton
  • Handball
  • ​Track and field
  • Various group games

All of these activities incorporate the main Physical Education components such as, cardio-respiratory endurance, agility, balance, stamina, conditioning and strength training. Our goal is to have students enjoy physical activity, improve their physical fitness levels, cooperate with their peers and respect one another.
